If being a bridesmaid means having as much fun as I had this past weekend then I always want to be a bridesmaid! The wedding took place in Detroit, Michigan. Yes this is the same bride from our infamous Beyonce themed bachelorette party!
I met Alana and her then boyfriend, Mark, when they moved to Scottsdale. Her and I worked at the same company, became friends, then roommates and now here I am sharing my stories as a bridesmaid in her wedding! It was such a fun and beautiful Michigan wedding, I want to share all my favorite things! Maybe it’ll be the perfect inspiration for your Pinterest wedding board! (come on, we all have one)
There was welcome gifts for the guests! Upon checking in, the hotel gave us a gift bag filled with Detroit themed goodies!
A bridesmaids brunch was held the day before the wedding!
Our fellow bridesmaid hostess, Ashley, even included the tradition of a “cake pull”! Everyone pulls a charm out of the cake and each charm has a special meaning!
Then came the wedding day! All the bridesmaids got their hair and make up done, in the cute embroidered robes our bride gifted us!
She also gifted us these beautiful necklaces to wear with our dresses! They were engraved with the wedding date on one side and our initial on the other!
But wait. Let’s admire how beautiful the bride was in her dress by LianCarlo
After the ceremony it was so nice not to have to worry about transportation! There was a party bus waiting for us!
The bus took us around to different locations to take photos! First stop, the high school where they met!
Next we went to Lake Shore drive, in Grosse Pointe, where they grew up!
Final stop downtown Detroit and the Tigers Stadium! A perfect way to get personal wedding photos while getting a tour of the city!
The reception was held at the Colony Club Detroit; I really liked how the bride and groom did the cake cutting and first dance as part of their entrance!
Also, I loved that the cake was served as dessert! I know that would make sense, but at most weddings I’ve missed tasting the cake! This way everyone was dished a piece!
The small details are what made their wedding so special!
Personalized, awesome wedding favors! Koozies!!
And as if the open bar wasn’t enough…to finish off the night, there was a coney dog station!
I definitely ate my weight in coney dogs that weekend! So thankful to have been part of such a special day! My first visit to Detroit was a success! Michigan is beautiful! Congrats to the newlyweds Mark and Alana!!! Pin anything you’d like, be sure to “like” Sunkissed Way on Facebook and follow me on Instagram (@karolina_b)! Thanks for reading!
